5.7 Attaching textures to the Blender file

Any image-based texture added to materials in Blender is an external

resource for your main project file. It is possible to manage and handle

those files independently from Blender. If you backup the Blender project

file alone, it won't have any of the image texture files used for materials,

unless you merge them in a single file.

For instance, if you want to copy Blender project files to an external hard

drive or sent it to a cloud drive, all texture files must follow the Blender

file to the same location. Usually, it is a good practice to place those files

in the same folder. That way, you can backup and copy the entire folder

at once.

After adding textures to a material, they will either have a relative or

absolute path to the Blender file. Following the folder recommendation

for Blender files, you should always create a unique folder for your
